Encounters on the Camino de Santiago

ebook

By 2008, Bill Beahen had reached one of life’s critical turning points. His recent retirement from an entirely satisfying career with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police had been a wrench, especially since he had no clear idea of what the future would hold, aside from a vague concept of wanting to help those of need in the community. Moreover, he was about to marry a wonderful woman and he was considering how he could best contribute to a successful union.

A longstanding and close friend suggested that he walk the Camino de Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Bill was attracted to the idea. After a stint of rigorous training, he set out on April 30, 2008, to cross the Pyrenees Mountains in the first stage of the journey.

What took place over the next thirty-two days led to a life transformation for Bill through his experience with nature, his interactions with fellow travellers, and a growing awareness that he walked with God. His questions were answered; but much more than that, the journey led him to a new awareness of his purpose in life.
